The PinchukArtCentre

The PinchukArtCentre is a project of Victor Pinchuk’s Foundation in culture field and it is one of the largest centers of modern art in Eastern Europe. The PinchukArtCentre’s main mission is to modernize the Ukrainian art area and to bring up a new generation of creative people. The Center is holding the wide program of exhibitions of the world and Ukrainian famous artists and young artists; carries out educational projects, supports cultural projects.
Art Center is located in the old architectural quarter of Kiev called Bessarabian, restored at the beginning of the XXI century. The architecture and interior design were developed by the French architect Philippe Kiambaretto. The Center is located on 6 floors and contains showrooms on 4 floors, the room of video-lounge and a cafe on the 6th floor, and the administrative part.
The PinchukArtCentre was opened September 16, 2006 and since that time it has gained popularity among Ukrainian youth, Kievans, as well as numerous tourists visiting capital. A convenient schedule of exhibitions (from 12:00 to 21:00), as well as free entry give an opportunity to get acquainted with the best creations of contemporary artists. Thanks to the PinchukArtCentre Kiev has become another bright location on the map of contemporary art.
In 2007 due to the PinchukArtCentre Ukraine was officially presented at the 52nd International Art Exhibition (the Venice Biennale) with the project «A Poem about an Inland Sea», that brought together Ukrainian and world artists, among which were Boris Mikhailov, Sergei Bratkov, Alexander Gnilitskiy and Lesya Zayats, Sam Taylor-Wood, Mark Titchner, Juergen Teller and Dzine.
In spring 2008, the Art Center established the exhibition of young artists’ works. During this period the Center showed the projects «Pastime Paradise» by Christina Solomuha (France-Ukraine), «The Art Map of Eastern Europe» by IRWIN band (Slovenia), «Art as a Gift» by R.E.P band (Ukraine), «Dreamers» by SOSka band (Ukraine), personal exhibition of Keit Sugiur (Japan).
The art collection at the PinchukArtCentre at the moment contains more than 400 of works. Since the opening the PinchukArtCentre has presented of about 9 exhibitions: «New Space», «GENERATIONS.UsA», personal exhibition of Brazilian artist and photographer Vik Muniz «Vik Muniz: A Survey», an exhibition of photographs from Elton John’s collection « An Instinctive Eye», REFLECTION, which were visited by more than 300 000 people, and many other exhibitions.
